| What a time for an injury crisis |
Playing with less than a full deck |
Last year, the whole season was ravaged due to injury. With just two games of the regular season to go, what sort of time is this to reprise the situation? Seven regulars are absent for the visit of Wakefield, including the previously ever-present Greg Mounis. That said, it's not as bad as it looks on paper, as any slight niggles are not being risked ahead of bigger battles to come.

What ho sirs, from a sultry Beijing.
The memsahib and I have left our Punjab retreat for a couple of weeks to take in the marvellous Olympics. Hasn't it been wonderful to see those young boys and girls running, jumping and, most deliciously of all, Greco-Roman wrestling.

 Matchwinner |
Amid a downpour in Huddersfield, the Dragons squeezed out a narrow victory in front of the Sky cameras. After a reasonable afternoon, the heavens opened just before kick-off and that provided less than ideal conditions for open, flowing rugby. Both sides conceded tries they'll be disappointed with and the penalties flowing from the Dragons is a concern, but it was a Huddersfield indiscretion that gave away the match-winning score.

 Missed out |
Wigan were the visitors to the Brutus as the Dragons looked to seal that third place. It looked like the Dragons had the game and the points in the bag, but a last gasp effort from Wigan saw the honours shared in yet another tight tussle between these two sides.

 Back in |
In an unprecedented move, Huddersfield have made Saturday's live Sky game free entry for all as chairman Ken Davy has a reportedly huge announcement to make at half-time. Speculation on what that announcement may be has been rife (Iestyn Harris to sign, for one rumour), but there is also the small matter of a game to be played as well.

 A welcome return |
If the Dragons are to maintain that third place that they've held for so long, then this is a must-win. After defeats in successive weeks, the pack have suddenly got a little too close for comfort where once the gap was wider than the grins of most Dragons fans. Wigan have been doing it tough lately, but while the Dragons were succumbing meekly to Hull KR last week, Wigan belted their neighbours by 60 points - a worrying return to form?

 Utter, utter class |
The Dragons came unstuck in front of the Sky cameras at Craven Park, all but ending any hope of a top two finish while also giving the chasing pack a sniff of third. With too many players looking off their game, an ex-Dragon guided his current paymasters to a reasonably comfortable win. It's a worry that such a poor effort was turned in so close to the play-offs and form needs rediscovering quickly.

 Cleared his head |
A setback it may have been last time, but there's still the whiff of the top two in the air. In order to put the Dragons in the frame for that, then no more slip-ups are allowed. Even then it may not be enough, but there's no marks for not trying. It starts on Friday with a televised trip to Craven Park.

| Leeds take stranglehold on second |
 Try machine |
The long unbeaten home run came to an end on a scorching hot night in Perpignan. It was March 7 when Bradford became the last team to emerge from Perpignan with both points, but Leeds avenged their defeat last season in a terrific encounter at the Gilbert Brutus.
