Good start for Toulouse

Better start than 2009
Toulouse kicked off their 2010 Championship campaign with a victory at home over the promoted Dewsbury Rams. The game swung to and fro before late tries to Rory Bromley and Sébastien Planas secured the three points.
We have a report from the game here

Toulouse Olympique won their first official match of the season, against the Dewsbury Rams with a score of 26 to 22.

In front of a good crowd in spite of the delay of the match due to an air traffic controllers strike, and in a spring sunshine, Toulouse started the match in the best way, by scoring a try in the second minute via the full back Rory Bromley. Toulouse however missed the opportunity to kill the match twice in a row with Anselme being held beyond the try line and Vincent Duport knocking on before scoring. The Rams reacted with a try at the twelfth minute by Mike Emmet. They took the lead 4-6 after the conversion from Patch Walker.

Following some good work by Yoan Tisseyre, Vincent Duport gave the advantage to the 'blue and white' (18th minute - 10-6 with the conversion from Nathan Wynn). However, the premature exit of Martin Mitchell (dislocated elbow) and several mistakes enabled Dewsbury to regain control of the match. The Rams scored two tries, at the 25th (Andrew Bostock) and the 43rd (Scott Turner), and thus lead 10-16. The Toulouse players did not lie down and Yoan Tisseyre reduced the deficit in the 48th minute. 14-16.

Some unusual errors on TO's part nevertheless allowed the Rams to put pressure on Toulouse and on one play, after Nathan Wynn's kick was blocked, Turner was in again and brought the score to 14-22. The captain Eric Anselme and his teammates had to dig in their last resources of energy to snatch the victory away from the Rams with two final tries (in the 67th minute by Bromley and 74th by Sébastien Planas). Final score: 26 to 22.

Toulouse chairman Carlos Zalduendo picked the sang-et-or.net man of the match and he went for Yoan Tisseyre, a lad who showed promise late last season and has picked up where he left off. Second was two-try Rory Bromley while Sébastien Planas was third, picking up the final player of the season point.
