About sang-et-or.net |
|---|

sang-et-or.net is the internet's number one English-language fansite for the Catalan Dragons and French Rugby League. Live since 2006, it is edited and run by committed treiziste John Dobson who can be regularly spotted at Dragons away matches. As well as following the Dragons, John is responsible for much of the site's copy, including coverage of the domestic French Élite Championship, match reports, opinion and humour writing. In addition to being a Dragons supporter, in the Élite league he follows Carcassone.
He is ably supported by Chris Plume, nominally a Harlequins RL fan but a devout rugby league expansionist who also followed the Dragons around the north during his time as a student at Sheffield University. Chris, along with John, can be heard on the site's cult podcasts, which are a hotbed of beery opinion, match reviews, rubbish predictions, conjecture and whatever else pops into their heads at the time. He also contributes features to the site and provides the dirt on the hated rivals, the Quins, in the fevered run-up to the derby fixtures. Chris follows the fortunes of St Gaudens in the domestic league.
Also a contributor is sang-et-or.net's 'man on the inside' Ricky Wilby, a Leeds fan who has ingratiated himself with the Dragons setup and frequently provides us with the inside track on injury news, contracts and other such titbits. The site photographer-in-residence and current Pakistan international, he's also been known to put his health on the line sweating away in the 'Drago' mascot costume.
The final founder member is Rob Peat, the man largely responsible for the suggestion of undertaking the whole project in the first place. Rob is also the man behind much of the innuendo and knob jokes on the site and is the inspiration behind such literary masterpieces as Colonel Urquart's French Letters.
In late 2008, Toulouse Olympique accepted a place in National League 1 for the following three years and as we aim to cover this next chapter of the adventure, as well as the Dragons, the French league and the French national side, we added Mark Hall to the staff as our chief Toulouse correspondent.
We pride ourselves on our irreverent, unabashed fan perspective and our opinionated nature. If there's something that needs to be said, we're not afraid to say it, so feel free to browse the site as well as the sang-et-or.net messageboard and have your say as well. We always welcome new writers who can contribute something to the team. Get in touch with John via dobsonjp@gmail.com if this is something that might interest you. There's no formal interview as such, but getting a round in will boost your application.
